EDI
Electronic Data Interchange, or EDI for short, allows seamless integration of SimpleStow in to your in-house information system and makes possible exchange of cargo data and stowage plans with business partners that are using third party software.
There are three types of EDI supported in SimpleStow.
Standard UN EDIFACT Messages
In SimpleStow the user can export and import container stowage plans and loading instructions in standard UN EDIFACT message formats BAPLIE and MOVINS. These electronic messages are widely used to exchange stowage plans between shipping lines, container terminals, marine agencies, ships and government offices.
SimpleStow supports all official versions of BAPLIE message formats. The BAPLIE message interchange has been verified and tested for compliance with the US Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) Security Filing “10+2” requirements.
As well the latest version of BAPLIE along with a recently introduced message VERMAS, both supported by SimpleStow, allow for exchange of containers Verified Gross Mass (VGM) to comply with the recent SOLAS VI/2 amendment.
The program gives the user flexibility to customize general information to be exported in the BAPLIE message header. It saves the latest data entered by the user and next time automatically enters it by default to minimize the user’s input.
The procedure of importing BAPLIE message in SimpleStow is simple and interactive. The program is very tolerant to errors and omissions that may occur in the imported messages and salvages as much useful container data as possible.
Custom EDI
SimpleStow provides a facility to import voyage schedule and container data, including VGM documentation, custom user-defined properties and flags, from structured text or spreadsheet files.
Your customers and partners don't have to struggle finding means of sending you container characteristics in a form of standard EDIFACT messages. Instead you can accept these data in a simple custom text file and easily instruct SimpleStow how to import it.
In an interactive dialog the user can quickly set up and save for future use a schema or a template that the program will follow when importing external data.
There may be several sources from which the user receives container information. SimpleStow allows creating a collection of custom templates to import cargo data from various sources.
Copy to Clipboard
Another type of EDI in SimpleStow is exporting the Cargo List through the system clipboard. The user can sort, filter and group containers in the Cargo List by combination of various criteria. The raw or structured and pre-processed cargo list then can be copied to the system clipboard and pasted in to any document (Word, Excel, Notepad, etc.) or a program that supports Windows clipboard, for further processing.
