Stability Models
Stability and strength assessment necessitates detailed mathematical models of individual ships defining accurate hydrostatic characteristics and limitations set by Classification societies.
SimpleStability obtains parameters of the ship’s floating status, stability and strength, employing established calculation methods and hydrostatic data found in the ship’s Loading Manual and Stability booklet.
There are three approaches of making the ship models available in SimpleStability:
Making Own Models
If you have access to the ship’s Loading Manual and Stability booklet, which is a mandatory document available on every ship, you can make models yourself.
One of the unique features of SimpleStability is that it includes a utility program, the stability ModelEditor, which provides user-friendly interface and advanced functionality for swift and effortless creation of ship models.
That not only saves you money, but also significantly reduces time of getting a model in the program and gives you total control over completeness and accuracy of the models.
The highlights of the ModelEditor are:
- A graphical and intuitive interface, allowing instant visualization of work results.
- Ship characteristics are structured, grouped and presented on graphical tabs for clarity and better overview.
- Copy-paste commands available throughout the ModelEditor, facilitate the swift transfer of hydrostatics data and tank characteristics from the Loading Manual into the model.
- Automated and intelligent functions speed up the process of model development and safeguard from making errors in the model.
- Minimal user input required to make a model.
- Users have the flexibility to determine how complete or partial the model to be.
The models generated in the ModelEditor are uploaded to the AMT web server for validation. The automatic verification process takes only a few seconds. Upon confirmation that the model is free of critical errors and inconsistencies, you instantly receive the verified and signed model and can proceed using it in SimpleStability.
Downloading the Models
The models generated by users of SimpleStow and SimpleStability are shared on the AMT's web server for the collective benefit of all users.
Registered users enjoy unlimited access to the continuously growing online repository of ship models as part of their subscription, allowing them to download available models free of charge.
If a model of a particular ship is not published yet, it is possible to download a model of a sister ship or a ship with similar characteristics, edit it as necessary in the ModelEditor, and then verify and sign it as a new model on the AMT web server.
Receiving the Models with a Plan or a Condition Files
SimpleStow and SimpleStability automatically store the model utilized for creating and evaluating the loading condition within a plan or a condition file.
If you receive a stowage plan or a condition file from your colleague, but do not have a model for that ship, don't worry. You can still open the loading condition file in SimpleStability, modify tanks loading status and review ship’s drafts, stability and strength parameters. SimpleStability will utilize the model embedded in the loading condition file.
