SimpleStow Complies with SOLAS
The IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) has adopted amendments to SOLAS regulation VI/2 (Cargo Information), to require the shipper to provide the container carrier and the terminal operator with the verified gross mass (VGM) of a packed container. This requirement will become legally effective on July 1, 2016.
As the result container terminals all around the globe will require VGM data for the container to be provided in an electronic form before that container can be loaded on board or even accepted through the terminal gates.
Freight forwarders, marine agencies, shipping lines and container terminals – all participants of the marine transportation supply chain – need a tool to enter, process and relay VGM data down the information channel.
Today we are pleased to announce release of an updated SimpleStow ver. 2.3 that addresses the industry needs and ensures uninterrupted VGM data flow from its point of origin all the way to the ship’s crew at the time of loading.
Along with general improvements and bug fixes the updated SimpleStow ver. 2.3 offers several new and useful functions. The most noticeable of them are:
- Added function to manually enter container mass verification data on the VGM tab in the Cargo Properties dialog.
- Possibility of importing VGM data along with other container characteristics from any structured text file through the flexible and user-customizable data import interface.
- Ability to instantly review Cargo List and determine which containers have their mass verified, and which do not.
- Ability to import and export container stowage plans in a new standard BAPLIE 3.1 message format designed specifically to transmit VGM data between different information platforms.
We encourage our existing and new customers to download and try new version of SimpleStow.
