SimpleStow as a BAPLIE viewer
Often it may be not practical preparing a model of the bay plan to be able to import a BAPLIE or a MOVINS message just to check and process the list of containers in these files. In some operations preparing a ship model ahead of time may be even not feasible because the ship’s information is not readily available, and the graphical bay plan is not as important.
Starting from version 2.4 it became possible importing BAPLIE and MOVINS messages in SimpleStow without having a ship model. The program itself, based on the information contained in the EDI messages and following certain logic, will re-create the layout of bays when importing BAPLIE and / or MOVINS files to accommodate all containers.
With this function you can use SimpleStow not only as a BAPLIE and MOVINS viewer, but also process EDI messages in user-friendly graphical and tabular formats, export processed container data, generate cargo statistics and stowage plan reports, and export all official versions of container planning messages: BAPLIE, MOVINS, COPRAR and VERMAS.
Here is the sample list of operations with EDI messages that you can now perform in SimpleStow:
- Import BAPLIE (ver. 1.5, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1) and MOVINS (ver. 2.1, 3.0). The program validates the messages and highlights detected format problems and missing or incorrect segments, if any.
- SimpleStow renders the content of imported BAPLIE and MOVINS in the form of customizable table and the graphical bay plan. Break bulk data, attached equipment are also properly imported.
- Analyze cargo list by sorting, filtering and grouping containers in the table. Easily edit container characteristics in the user-friendly interface.
- Adjust positions of containers moving them with drag-and-drop method in the graphical bay plan.
- Enhance stowage plan, convert non-verified container mass in to VGM by importing VERMAS or VGM data from a CSV file, or entering these data manually.
- Build up stowage plan, combining various EDI files. Add containers importing additional EDIFACT messages such as BAPLIE, MOVINS and COPRAR, or a custom CSV file.
- Instantly update ship’s loading condition to any port in the voyage.
- Generate customizable stowage plan and cargo statistics reports showing containers on board, to load, to unload, restow, or having any combination of specific characteristics.
- Export container stowage plan and cargo lists in a standard EDIFACT messages such as BAPLIE, MOVINS, COPRAR and VERMAS, or as a custom CSV file.
A brief video, demonstrating how to use SimpleStow as a BAPLIE or MOVINS viewer, is posted on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XirHM7iypT4&t
As a side effect of this new function, or as a bonus, now you can also import BAPLIE and MOVINS messages in the ModelEditor program as well. That allows you, with minimal adjustments, to instantly make an accurate bayplan model of the ship to use in SimpleStow for full-featured stowage planning.
We invite our existing and new customers to download and try new version of SimpleStow.
